Motorcycle insurance premiums 'vary widely'

The area where you live might mean that you pay more for your motorcycle insurance - making it harder to pay off debt elsewhere.

According to a spokesperson for insurer Churchill, speaking yesterday, the costs were highly variable - even from postcode to postcode.

The comments were made at a time in which motorcycle use in the UK is on the up, with figures from the DVLA showing that over 3.5 million motorbike licences are held nationwide.

Traffic jams, particularly in cities, are a major factor in this trend: statistics from the Motorcycle Industry Association suggest that using a scooter, for example, cuts journey times in London by 48 per cent when compared with cars.

The spokesperson added: "[Premiums] can vary from insurer to insurer, and can depend on personal circumstances.
