Men and women 'shop for goods differently'
Striking differences in the way that men and women buy goods have been detected by a study from Tesco.
The supermarket found that females are around twice as likely to check details on food and drink labels.
Women are also more careful with looking over bank statements and credit agreements, the research suggested.
However, men were found to pay more attention to car and technology purchases - with six per cent more checking the small print of vehicle insurance buys.
Failing to check over the cover's terms and conditions can also hit customers' personal finances hard: Tesco found that around one million Britons have not been able to claim on their car insurance in the past year alone due to this reason.
Spokesman Paul Baxter said: "Insurance polices can be complicated, and it is not surprising that so many people find themselves in a situation where they thought they were covered when in fact they werent."
