Thomas Charles: Live within your budget to avoid debt
Financial advice was given yesterday by debt consultancy service Thomas Charles.
According to the firm, spending within your means in order to pay off credit cards and other debt "isn't rocket science".
Director of Thomas Charles James Falla advised: "Simply live within your budget - if you're spending more than youve got coming in then you're going to get into debt.
"To avoid doing that you have to maybe not spend the money you thought you were going to spend on a holiday or computer."
Mr Falla's comments follow research from charity Citizens Advice, which found that 215,000 new problems with paying off debt were reported by Britons in the first two months of 2008 alone.
A poll from YouGov published last month also found that a majority (53 per cent) of people consider themselves to either be in a "little" or a "lot" of debt.
